Above are three of the many covers I designed (at least in part) while working as an advertising designer at The Virginian-Pilot. From left to right: Cuisine Scene, an actual cover based on a complete re-design and layout I created when the special section switched from a broadsheet to a tabloid; The Best Summer Ever cover spec that was not used; Traditions, a different kind of holiday section featuring some of the traditions of Hampton Roads’ locals.

Below: Another view of the Traditions cover, plus the Advertising Department holiday card for that year. Advertising Director Kelly Warren liked the Traditions cover concept so much, she requested a matching card that would be sent out to advertisers, clients and others. Traditions cover, card and other art was co-created with graphic designer Jennifer Fenner.
